Sunday lunch

So I'm gonna go with the chat bar idea. Unfortunately, the last chat bar I had was popup intensive so I'm looking to find a cheaper alternative. I've got 2 hosts available (both the Projects and a certain Canuck) and I'm fairly certain I can swing almost any kind of technical requirements. Ideas people?
Plus, I may just implement a comments system using Haloscan as pretty much everyone else seems to use it.
