I've an addiction to Webcomics. It's not something that can, or indeed should, be "treated" but there are times when I worry myself. I've two examples for you to try on for your metaphorical, if somewhat rotund, size:
- You know that feeling when you're attempting to explain something so intrinsically funny, so inherently and unrelentingly amusing, that you find yourself not only unable to convey the joke but making a snorting, giggling, drooling smacktard of yourself. How, for example, would you explain some of the editions of my favourite comic, Penny Arcade?
Take this, for example? And what about this? Not only are the comics incredible but the writing is of such a fine standard I honestly find myself emulating their style 3 posts out of four, down to using excessive italics for emphasis.
- Sinfest, another firm favourite of mine is also a winner - with this comic revolving more around style and sometimes deep stuff like dying and stuff. This guy has posted a comic every single day for the last 4 years. That's some work. He's incredibly stylistic and cool and when, for the first time in about 2 years, he missed a few days, he offered up some classic excuses:
Some rumors circulating about Tatsuya Ishida's disappearance:
· After years of hedonistic excess and debauchery he donates all his belongings to charity and decides to "walk the earth."
· Convicted on four counts of obstruction of justice, perjury, and general badness, he is sentenced to 15 years in maximum security prison.
· After inadvertently exposing his right nipple on network television he is taken in by federal authorities and beaten like Jesus.
· He finally succumbs to the Dark Side of the Force and slaughters a village of Sand People.
· Tibetan monks identify him as the 15th Dalai Lama and arrange for his immediate evacuation.
· Friends and family conduct an intervention and send him to rehab, where he battles his addiction to sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. So far no progress has been reported.
· Upon serving his requisite number of years as emissary on earth his people from Planet Pimptastica come to take him home.
I'll post more later - sudden emergency...
hehe... "beaten like Jesus"....
As an aside, I'd recommend today's Toothpaste for Dinner. I giggled in an unmanly fashion.
